TO CHECK ALL APPLICANT NAMES AGAINST LIST OF TERRORISTS

On September 24, 2001, President Bush signed Executive Order 13224 “Blocking Property and Prohibiting Transactions with Persons Who Commit, Threaten to Commit, or Support Terrorism.”  The Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State and the Attorney General, through the Office of Foreign Assets Control has published a list of “Specifically Designated Global Terrorists” (SDGT’s). 

After inquiries from several of our clients in the financial industry, ESS has implemented a system whereby all names submitted to ESS will be checked against the SDGT list. The list was updated on October 12 and November 7.  We will continue to monitor the list and immediately add all future updates to the SDGT Check.

The SDGT Check will begin November 19, 2001.  It will be conducted automatically and at no charge.  ESS will contact the client within 24 hours should we identify a name that matches or closely approximates one of the names or numerous AKA’s on the SDGT list.  If requested, ESS will assist in contacting federal authorities in order to determine what steps should be taken next.
