Public access to
California Sex Offender Registry |
|
The recent failure of the Megan law in California means that the public will not be able to access the state's sex offender registry beginning January 1, 2004. However, Attorney General Bill Lockyer is trying to persuade Assembly lawmakers to reverse their ruling. Depending on the final outcome, Employment Screening Services may not be able to offer the California Sex Offender Registry report after December 31, 2003. We will continue to keep you informed of further developments. Local police and sheriffs will continue to notify citizens of serious and high-risk sex offenders recently released from prison who they think may pose a danger to that particular community. |
