ESS Enhances Reference Checks
"More Options, Better Results"

ESS has been interviewing the personal and professional references of job applicants for over twenty years.  We’ve always welcomed customized reference-check questions, but now we are introducing two new enhancements that will help our clients get more meaningful information in the most readable format!

Client-Specific, Position-Related Reference Checks

Our staff’s reference-centered, soft communication skills are designed to quickly build trust and put supervisors and references at ease in order to elicit specific, meaningful information about the applicant and the setting in which they have worked. Before conducting reference checks, we always review the job applicant’s work history and the position for which the applicant is applying.  Now with a little input from you, we believe we can gather even more of the candidates’ primary competencies and attributes (or lack of) as they specifically relate to the objectives of your company’s positions.

The link below will take you to a reference-check worksheet and in less than ten minutes, you can provide ESS with key information that we will integrate and consistently apply to reference checks for a specific position or job classification.  We’ve been refining our reference questions and interview techniques for over two decades; now we want to take it to another level.

New Reference Report Format

The information you provide through the worksheet will further strengthen our reference-check skills.  However, transcribing reference information to the written page in a manner that will best convey reference information is a separate part of the overall process that we have improved.

The traditional ESS reference format has been block paragraph style, which can be lengthy, and sometimes difficult or time consuming to read and extract the key informational elements from the write-up.

In a few days, you will notice that supervisor and reference write-ups will appear in a format we call “Seven Core Inquiries” or 7CI.  From the 7CI format, references are more easily read with quicker assimilation of the information presented.  The traditional block style is still available if you prefer, as well as a Q &A format option.
