Assessment Tools - The Missing Link

Please Join our FREE September Webinar

Date: Thursday, September 20, 2007

Time: 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM PDT

Our September ESS Webinar will be conducted by assessments expert and our new partner, Jennifer A. Leake, CSE, of Assessment Pros.

Personnel assessments are a systematic approach to gathering information about individuals. This insightful, cost-effective tool is used to make more informed employment or career-related decisions about applicants and employees.

The availability of these tools are endless, and they differ in a variety of ways:
     • Purpose - why are you using them?
     • What they measure - what information are you seeking?
     • How they are designed
     • How they are administered - paper/pencil or online?
     • Legal and adverse impact concerns

Jennifer has over 15 years experience helping employers choose the right assessment tools for their hiring, staffing, leadership, communications, and career development needs.

Consider that:
     • Good People often fail at a job because they don’t “fit” the job.
     • 60 % of a manager’s time is spent fixing people problems
     • Assessments can predict behavior after the “honeymoon” ends.
     • Finding and retaining key employees gives you less headaches and offers a competitive edge to your business

Please join us September 20th to learn about this exciting new service.

*If you cannot attend, all completed ESS Webinars are posted on our client services website, www.essclientservices.com by the end of the day of the webinar.

ESS Now Offering Two New Services

ADVERSE ACTION NOTICES
ESS REPORT COPIES TO CALIFORNIA APPLICANTS

Adverse Action Notices

Per FCRA requirements, before you proceed with an “Adverse Action” against an applicant or employee based in whole or in part of an ESS report, you are obligated to provide the applicant: (1) a copy of the report and (2) a Summary of Consumer Rights document.  After the applicant has had an opportunity to dispute or explain information contained in the report, then you should send an FCRA compliant Adverse Action letter.

Compliance with Adverse Action Notices as required by federal law takes time and timing.  Let ESS take care of that process for you.

Copies of Reports to California (OK, MN) Residents

Per California Civil Code 1786.16, a job applicant or employee in California must be provided with a copy of the ESS report when s/he has requested it on the disclosure and authorization form. The same is true in Oklahoma and Minnesota.

Currently ESS emails you a reminder to send the applicant/employee a copy of the report.  Now you can simply have us handle the job for you.

New York Sets Limits On Criminal History Reports

A growing trend for court administrators across the country is to limit access to their records. Due to several lawsuits that have been filed and the worry of misuse, it is becoming harder and harder to obtain records from the courts. For example, Florida has considered eliminating (redacting is the official term) the identifiers from all court records. This would make it virtually impossible to know if the individual with a criminal record matching your applicant's name is indeed the same person.

In a new development, the New York Office of Court Administration has placed reporting limits on criminal histories records "where the disposition involves a maximum sentence of 15 days in jail or less." The change is a result of a lawsuit that was settled in mid-July. To read more on this, click on the following link.
